Digital Live Imaging of intraoperative electrocochleography and hearing preservation during Cochlear Implantation

چکیده
Introduction Intraoperative electrocochleography (ECochG) during cochlear implantation is a promising tool to preserve residual hearing. However, the time gap between insertion of electrode and acoustic feedback from audiologist surgeon causes delay. For first real-time visualization intraoperative ECochG via digital microscope (ARRISCOPE) directly using “picture-in-picture mode” was successfully performed.

Methods of Hearing Preservation during Cochlear Implantation
Introduction Recent advances in surgical techniques and electrode design have made residual hearing preservation during cochlear implantation (CI) possible, achievable, and desirable. Objectives The objective of this study was to review the literature regarding methods used for hearing preservation during CI surgery. Data Synthesis We performed a search in the LILACS, MEDLINE, SciELO, PubMed...
متن کاملHearing Preservation after Cochlear Implantation: UNICAMP Outcomes
Background. Electric-acoustic stimulation (EAS) is an excellent choice for people with residual hearing in low frequencies but not high frequencies and who derive insufficient benefit from hearing aids. For EAS to be effective, subjects' residual hearing must be preserved during cochlear implant (CI) surgery. Methods. We implanted 6 subjects with a CI. We used a special surgical technique and a...
متن کاملAssessment of Cochlear Trauma During Cochlear Implantation Using Electrocochleography and Cone Beam Computed Tomography.
OBJECTIVE To assess cochlear trauma during cochlear implantation by electrocochleography (ECoG) and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) and to correlate intraoperative cochlear trauma with postoperative loss of residual hearing. METHODS ECoG recordings to tone bursts at 250, 500, 750, and 1000 Hz and click stimuli were recorded before and after insertion of the cochlear implant electrode arr...
متن کاملAssessment of Cochlear Function during Cochlear Implantation by Extra- and Intracochlear Electrocochleography
Objective: The aims of this study were: (1) To investigate the correlation between electrophysiological changes during cochlear implantation and postoperative hearing loss, and (2) to detect the time points that electrophysiological changes occur during cochlear implantation. Material and Methods: Extra- and intracochlear electrocochleography (ECoG) were used to detect electrophysiological chan...
متن کاملFactors affecting residual hearing preservation in cochlear implantation
The likelihood of residual hearing preservation in cochlear implantation (CI) is related to surgical factors such as type of cochleostomy (trans-fenestral vs. promontorial), use of lubricants and protective drugs, and device-related factors such as shape, length and flexibility of the array. We investigated the impact of these factors on the hearing preservation rate in adults and children with...
